Stereography at Joan’s on Third and 3D glasses in Highland Park

Today has been filled with website programming, packing of orders and all of that good stuff. In other words, there’s not much to write about.

Fortunately, yesterday was a lot more interesting. Started the morning of with a meeting with Shannon Benna and Justin Giritlian at Joan’s on Third (one of our favorite Los Angeles cafes). We discussed the 3D project that I wrote about here and here… Shannon is coming on the project as the stereographer (simple explanation: the person who designs the 3D aspect of a movie) and she really knows 3D. In fact, Shannon was Hollywood’s First Female Feature Film Stereographer – we’re really lucky to be working with her. Welcome on board, Shannon! ImageLater in the afternoon I dropped by Society of the Spectacle to deliver some 3D glasses. It’s always fun to chat with the the two sisters, Amy and Katie, who own this lovely, unique eyewear store in Highland Park. If you are in that neighborhood, make sure to drop by their store! I hear rumors that they sometimes serve cupcakes too 🙂 Image

Would love to hear from you! Do you have any plans for the upcoming weekend? Anyone going to see Titanic 3D or Wrath of the Titans 3D? Do any of you have a 3D TV at home yet? 🙂

Hasta Mañana

Midweek Motivation: Molen Antolin

Since we started our company, we’ve met a lot of people. Some have been very helpful, some have been a motivation. Some have been both, which is definitely the case of Molén. Meet Molén Antolin, the first one out of what will be our weekly interview column, Midweek Motivation. We at INGRI:DAHL are so grateful for all the help she has given us! We can’t figure out how she has the time to do everything she does and still help others, she really is a true inspiration!

1. Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Molén Antolin. I am Attorney at Law, Vogue Italia Fashion Correspondent and Vogue Mexico contributor. For Vogue Italia I write articles and reviews about Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Mexico and Dubai Fashion Week. And For Vogue Mexico, I will write about trends, travels, etc.

2. Your favorite trip ever and why?
My favorite trip was to Paris because I met amazing people like Guillaume Salmon (Colette’s PR) and Gwenn Decca, who works for Elie Saab. And why was that trip my best trip? Because it was my first time getting in touch with the fashion world, which was great!!

3. What is your favorite 3d movie and which one are you looking forward to? My favorite 3D movie is Alice in Wonderland! Now I am looking forward to see Dark Shadows.

 4.Who is your style icon?
Emmanuelle Alt
5. What are three things you can’t live without?
My mobile, my credit card and my sunglasses.

With the Vogue Mexico Team:
Arianna, Molen, Kelly Talamas (editor in Chief of Vogue Mexico) and Rodrigo Medina

6. What is your advice to someone who is pursuing their passion as a career? Work hard, be willing, keep dreaming and be enthusiastic, but always be realistic. In my case, I write, write and write. Know that some day you will be rewarded for your hard work.

A million dresses..

ImageWhen Emily McDonald, founder of Stylist LA, and I first met, we immediately hit it off. As fellow entrepreneurs, we had a lot to talk about. After that meeting, and every meeting since, I’ve left inspired and filled with new ideas for INGRI:DAHL. Even though INGRI:DAHL designs 3D glasses, and StylistLA is a high-end dress borrowing service, many aspects of our businesses intersect and we can give each other advice. The same happened today, when I visited her at her Downtown LA office! Her office must be every woman’s dream: it’s filled with beautiful dresses in every color of the rainbow. If you live in Los Angeles, you should definitely consider renting a dress from StylistLA next time you have an event, instead of buying yet another dress!

I believe getting a fresh perspective is important in every aspect in life, not just entrepreneurship. You are forced to revise what you are doing and look at things from an outside perspective. So I dare you all, challenge yourself – ask someone else: how I can improve (be it work, working out, a hobby, a project, etc.)?

Change in all things is sweet – Aristotle

Hope you had a good day!

Genlock, beam splitter, luminance….

Happy Monday. New week, new opportunities. A big portion of this lovely (cloudy?) work day has gone by to going more in depth of 3D making – hence the title. Somehow that reminded me of the little, silly animation we made to explain the difference between 3D systems a while back:

Off to the Jonathan Club – Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce (NACC), where I’m currently serving as a board member, is hosting a Panel Discussion. You should look into NACC if you have an interest in the American Norwegian business relations. Tonight’s panel includes:Mr. Barry White, US Ambassador to Norway, Mr. Sten Arne Rosnes, Consul General to Norway, San Francisco, Mr. Dean Wiberg, NASA – JPL (high-tech), Mr. Paal Berg, Wilhelmsen Ships Services (shipping), Mr. Harald Zwart, Film Director (entertainment) and moderator: Mr. Michael Soroy, the Norwegian Honorary Consul, Los Angeles.

See you soon!

As busy as I claim to be, I’ve still got the greatest job in the world – Peter Criss

Technicolor's 3D dictionary

Yesterday was a very busy, but an extremely fun day! My schedule was filled with meetings and work that had been done before the last business day of the week was over (we entrepreneurs still work on weekends 🙂 ). My day started of at Technicolor, where I met with 3D expert, Ed Elliott (check out his blog here). Thank you so much for the book you gave me, Ed! Look forward to meeting again soon.

After the meeting at Technicolor I met with 3DTV.com, who told me about the latest endeavors. The guys launched a website in January, where you can upload content (picture or video) and it will automatically be converted into 3D.

Tyler and Michael behind 3DTV.com

Then I had my second meeting with Justin Giritlian, who I wrote about here. Still can’t say too much about it – other than it is going to be really cool 🙂 Ok, I’ll give you some clues: Fashion and 3D will come together with classic Hollywood!

1. Justin 2.Justin explaining a 3D movie set using an iPhone, a banana peel and a Starbucks cup!

The rest of day just went by to sitting an unnecessary amount of time in traffic (a disadvantage of lovely LA), being on business calls and doing more work.

Hope you are having a good weekend! Talk soon!

P.S. If you haven’t yet, you should check out our Facebook page 🙂

Katy Perry: “I wanted people to be able to experience the tour and all the joy it brought, which is why we shot it in 3D.”

We can’t wait to use our INGRI:DAHL 3D glasses for this movie. It is always exhilarating to wear our own 3D glasses designs – as dorky that might sound!
